Your Takings report
Takings adds up every sale you recorded at the till and every deposit or fee paid online through Stripe over a date range you choose, showing what came in, tips, GST, what went back out as refunds, and what you kept.

Quick answer
Open Payments in the sidebar and stay on the Deposits tab, then scroll down past the Stripe connection, Tax & GST, Close-out and Receipts cards to Takings. Set a date range with the From and To fields, or click a preset: This month, Last month, This quarter, This year. The numbers, Gross, Refunded, Net, GST included and Tips, update as soon as you change the range, with a breakdown by payment method and by day underneath, and Download CSV exports every sale, payment and refund in that range as a spreadsheet.
1. What this report covers
Takings lives on the Payments screen: open Payments in the sidebar, stay on the Deposits tab, and scroll past the Stripe connection, Tax & GST, Close-out and Receipts cards to the last one, Takings.
Taking deposits and no-show fees through Stripe comes included from Growth and Venue Growth up. Below that, it's a separate add-on called Deposits and no-show protection, A$14.99 a month on Solo and Venue Starter. Until your business holds it, you'll see an ADD-ON badge next to Payments in the sidebar; the badge disappears once your plan includes it or you've added it.
Takings counts money customers have actually paid: every sale recorded at the till (a walk-in New sale, or items added when you close out a visit), whether paid in cash, on your own card machine or by bank transfer, plus deposits, no-show fees and tickets paid online through Stripe. A voided sale is left out completely. Cash paid in Australian dollars is rounded to the nearest 5c, and the rounding is counted so your cash drawer matches.
2. Takings or the Booked value report?
Appointments businesses also have a Booked value report, under Reports in the sidebar, and the two are meant to show different numbers. Booked value is the price of every booking in its range that wasn't cancelled or a no-show, whether or not it has been paid, counted on the day of the booking. Takings is the money that actually came in, counted on the day it was paid, with refunds taken off and the GST worked out.
Use Takings when you're reconciling your till and Stripe account or pulling figures for your BAS, and Booked value when you want to know what your bookings added up to. Table reservations businesses don't have a Booked value report, since a table booking carries no price.
3. The numbers explained
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gross | Every sale recorded and every online payment that succeeded in your chosen date range, before any refunds are taken off. Tips are inside it. |
| Refunded | Everything that went back out as a full or partial refund in that same range. |
| Net | Gross minus Refunded. This is what you actually kept. |
| GST included | The GST already sitting inside Net, worked out sale by sale at your registered GST rate (the figure on the sale's tax invoice when one was issued), with refunds taken off. Tips carry no GST. It isn't extra money, it's the portion of Net that is GST. Shows "Not registered" if your business isn't set up as GST-registered. |
| Tips | The tips recorded on sales in the range. They are already inside Gross and Net. |
Net is shown larger and in bold because it's usually the number you want: what's left after refunds, before you think about GST.
4. Choosing a date range
- Set a From date and a To date using the date pickers.
- Or use a preset instead: This month, Last month, This quarter, This year.
- The quarter presets follow calendar quarters (January to March, April to June, and so on), which line up with the ATO's own BAS quarters, so "This quarter" is a fast way to pull the figures a quarterly activity statement needs.
5. Downloading the report
Click Download CSV, at the right-hand end of the date controls, to download a spreadsheet of the range you've selected. It's the detail behind the totals rather than the totals themselves: every sale and every online payment event in the range on its own line (sales, payments, refunds, and any online payment that was started but didn't go through), with its date, type, amount, currency, reason, payment method, tip, cash rounding and GST. That's usually what a bookkeeper wants.
6. If nothing shows up
If nothing came in during the range you picked, the card simply says "No sales or payments in this range." That's expected for a quiet period. It isn't an error.
