Build and publish your website

Edit each page in the website editor, save your drafts as you go, then publish when you're ready to make your changes live.

Quick answer

Go to Business > Website in your dashboard, then click Edit website. Fill in whichever pages you want (Home is always on; Services, About, Team, Gallery, Reviews and Contact are optional), click Save draft as you go, and click Publish changes when you're ready to make it live. Publishing is free, it's included on every plan.

1. What this builds

Every appointment-based business on Gaplessly gets a free public website at its own Gaplessly link. A domain you connect yourself comes on Pro or as an add-on for A$14.99 a month (see Connect your own domain). The editor is where you write and design every page of that site.

This is separate from your booking widget, which always works on its own. The website is the shell around it: your story, your services, your team, and a way for a visitor to click through and book.

Note:The website builder is only available for appointment-based businesses, like salons and clinics. Hospitality venues don't have this feature yet, and won't see a Website item in their sidebar.

2. The pages you can build

Every site has the same seven possible pages. Home is always present, since it's the page your navigation menu sits on. The other six are optional, and you can add or archive them from the editor any time.

  • Home
  • Services
  • About
  • Team
  • Gallery
  • Reviews
  • Contact

Archiving a page removes it from your live navigation and footer without deleting its content, so you can bring it back later without retyping anything. Deleting a page removes its content for good, and the editor asks you to confirm first.

3. Draft, then publish

Nothing you write into a page, its heading, story text, images, or the order pages appear in, is visible to the public straight away. Click Save draft to keep your work, and click Publish changes when you want those changes to actually go live on your site.

The website editor: a tab for each page, with Save draft and Publish changes at the top.

The Website screen, which you land on before opening the editor, shows a Draft or Live status pill. Once you've published at least once, it also shows when you last published and whether you have unpublished changes waiting. A Publish my website button there republishes everything currently saved as a draft in one step, useful if you made changes on an earlier visit and never got around to publishing them.

Note:Site settings work differently from your pages. Your Look, background colour, social links, phone number visibility, default search title and description, and privacy policy text all save on their own, most the moment you change them, and go live straight away. They never wait for Publish changes. Only the pages themselves, their text, images and order, follow Save draft, then Publish.
Tip:Publish always sends every page, not just the ones you touched this session, so it's safe to click even if you're not sure exactly what changed since last time.

4. Look, feel and other site-wide settings

Next to the page tabs is a Site settings button, which swaps the editor's panel to a set of site-wide controls separate from any one page's own fields. Look is a starting bundle for your site's structure: heading font, corner style and layout. Colour is never part of a Look, so your background and accent colours stay whatever you've already set, on every Look you try.

Alongside Look you can set a background colour, add your social links, choose whether your phone number shows on the site, set a default search title and description for any page that doesn't set its own, and write a privacy policy to override the standard one every site gets by default.

Unlike the pages themselves, these settings save on their own, some the instant you change them, others when you click out of the field, rather than waiting for Save draft or Publish changes.

Each page also has its own Heading motion control, in that page's own content section, so one page's headings can move differently from the rest without changing anything site-wide. Heading motion is part of that page's content, so it does follow the ordinary Save draft, then Publish rule, unlike the site-wide settings above.

5. Who can edit and publish

If a field looks locked, you're missing organisation-settings permission, ask an admin to grant it or to make the change for you. The Publish changes button in the editor is always visible but stays disabled for anyone who isn't an admin; on the Website status screen, the Publish my website button is shown only to admins in the first place.
