Is Calendly Free? Where the Free Plan Stops
The short answer
Calendly is free forever for one person taking one type of 1-on-1 meeting, and that's genuinely enough for many people. It stops being enough the moment a business needs to take payment at booking, give more than one staff member their own calendar, or run a booking page that looks like part of their own site.

Two different jobs
People search "is Calendly free" and "Calendly alternative" for the same underlying reason, at slightly different points. Calendly is a meeting scheduler, not a business-booking system, and that is not a knock on it. The real question is not which one is better, it is which job you are actually doing.
Where Calendly still wins
Calendly is the right tool for individuals, freelancers and consultants doing pure one-on-one meeting booking, sales calls, consultations, interviews, who do not need to take payment at booking and do not need to coordinate more than one person's calendar. Its free-forever tier has no time limit and no forced trial expiry, which is a genuine advantage over software that only offers a time-boxed trial. For someone who just needs "here's my link, pick a time," Calendly remains hard to beat on price and simplicity.
Where the categories split: payments, teams, and your own booking page
Calendly's Standard plan (US$10/seat/month as at 2 September 2026, calendly.com/pricing) adds Stripe or PayPal payment collection at the price set for an event type. There is no separate deposit percentage or card-on-file no-show fee, because that is not the product Calendly is. Round-robin and team routing, useful for distributing sales or support meetings across a group, sits on the Teams plan (US$16/seat/month), built for lead distribution rather than a client choosing a specific staff member from a branded roster. Custom branding needs Standard and up, and full domain control is an Enterprise-tier feature (Enterprise starts at US$15,000/year, minimum 50 seats, USD only).
Restaurants, cafés and venues: a different problem entirely
Calendly has no party-size, table or service-period concept anywhere in the product, because it was built for one-on-one meetings, not covers or seatings. That is not a shortcoming, it simply never claimed to do it. A restaurant or venue owner who lands on this page while actually shopping for table booking software wants a hospitality-specific platform instead.
Calendly has no concept of a table, a party size or a service period. It was built for one person meeting one person, not for a restaurant floor.
Solo, no payments, no team? Free is free
The one place this page will not pretend to win. A true solo operator with no payment or staff need should not pay for anything: Calendly's free plan is A$0 at any volume, and our Solo plan is free up to 50 bookings a month and A$19 in a busier one. On that exact comparison, Calendly wins on price, plainly.
Calendly bills in US dollars, we bill in Australian dollars
Calendly bills in US dollars: Free (US$0), Standard (US$10/seat/month, a 17% discount offered billed annually), Teams (US$16/seat/month, a 20% discount offered billed annually), Enterprise (from US$15,000/year, 50-seat minimum, USD only). Figures read from calendly.com/pricing on 2 September 2026. An Australian buyer on a paid Calendly plan is budgeting against a currency that moves against them; every plan here is priced in Australian dollars, GST treatment stated plainly.
When Calendly is the right choice
- Calendly is probably right if you are a single consultant, coach or freelancer taking one-on-one meetings, you do not need to collect payment at booking, and you are the only person on the calendar.
- Look at something built for a business, not a meeting, once you are taking a deposit or no-show fee, coordinating more than one person's availability, want a booking page that is clearly part of your own brand, or you run a restaurant, café or venue.
When Calendly is the right choice
You are a single consultant, coach or freelancer taking one-on-one meetings, you do not need to take payment at booking, and you are the only person on the calendar. Calendly's free plan is genuinely free forever for that exact case, with no forced trial expiry, and switching would cost time for no real gain.
Common questions
Is Calendly free?
Yes. As at 2 September 2026, Calendly's free plan is free forever and includes one event type, one calendar connection, unlimited bookings on that single link, a customisable booking page and a browser extension. Paid plans start at the Standard tier for anyone who needs more than one event type or one connected calendar.
How does Calendly work?
A user connects their calendar to Calendly and shares a personal booking link. Calendly reads that connected calendar, shows only the genuinely open slots on the booking page, and confirms a meeting automatically once someone picks a time, so nobody has to manually check for clashes.
Do you have to pay for Calendly?
No, not for basic one-on-one scheduling. The free plan has no time limit or forced trial expiry. Payment is only required once you need more than one event type, more than one connected calendar, team or round-robin scheduling, custom branding, or the ability to collect payment at the time of booking.
How much does Calendly cost per month?
As at 2 September 2026, sourced from calendly.com/pricing: Standard is US$10 per seat per month billed monthly (a 17% discount is offered billed annually), Teams is US$16 per seat per month billed monthly (a 20% discount billed annually), and Enterprise starts at US$15,000 per year with a 50-seat minimum, priced in USD only.
Can you take a deposit or payment when someone books through Calendly?
From the Standard plan up, Calendly connects to Stripe or PayPal to charge the price set for an event type. It doesn't have separate deposit or no-show-fee logic, it charges the one configured amount, in full, at booking.
Is Calendly suitable for a restaurant or venue taking table bookings?
No. Calendly is built for one-on-one meeting scheduling and has no concept of party size, a table, or a service period, so restaurants, cafés and venues use booking software built around covers and seatings instead.
