A Vagaro alternative priced in Australian dollars, with no fee on your clients
The short answer
Vagaro’s Australian pricing page labels its extra-calendar price as $10 (US) and, when its Fill My Books marketplace sends you a booking, its agreement takes 20% of a new client’s first appointment and 5% of an existing client’s bookings. Gaplessly publishes its prices in Australian dollars and takes no commission on any client: Solo is free up to 50 bookings a month and A$19 in a busier one, and any paid plan cancels from the dashboard with no exit fee.

Vagaro
A US-based platform with an Australian site. A per-calendar subscription with a 30-day trial, card processing through its own merchant services, and an optional marketplace that takes a percentage of the booking.
- Pricing model
- Per bookable calendar
- Their FAQ: each extra bookable calendar licence at a location costs $10 (US), up to seven; past seven, more employees add nothing. The monthly figures for each team size sit behind a selector we could not read, so check them on the page.
- Currency shown
- US dollars
- The licence price on the Australian pricing page is labelled "(US)". The page does not mention GST.
- Free trial
- 30 days
- Stated in the pricing FAQ. The pages we read do not say whether a card is needed to start it.
- Cancelling
- Any time, no cancellation fee
- Their pricing and contact pages say so. The Participation Agreement adds that the subscription renews until you cancel it and that fees already paid are not refunded.
- Price changes
- Can change at any time
- Participation Agreement: Vagaro may change subscription prices at any time, and to refuse a change you must cancel at least ten days before it takes effect.
- Card reader
- Free with Vagaro Merchant Services
- The free reader needs a Vagaro merchant account and 12 months of processing, with a $150 fee for stopping earlier. Their agreement also lists a $10 monthly rental in months with under $1,000 of card transactions. Currency not labelled.
- Card processing rates
- Not published
- The agreement says the processor terms are shown during enrolment, not on the public pages.
- Marketplace fees
- 20% of a new client’s first booking, 5% of an existing client’s bookings
- Participation Agreement, Fill My Books: a clause on bookings Fill My Books facilitates. Clients you import or add yourself count as existing, not new. Daily Deals carries its own 20% new-client fee on the discounted amount paid.
- Text messages
- No price published
- The agreement says message and data rates may apply. Email is included, 1,000 free emails a month.

What the Australian page shows
Vagaro does operate in Australia, with an Australian site, Australian phone numbers and a support line it lists as available 24/7. Its pricing is built per bookable calendar: the FAQ says each extra bookable calendar at a location costs $10 (US), up to seven, and that adding more employees past seven costs nothing.
A salon in Parramatta reading an Australian page sees a US-dollar price, no mention of GST and monthly tier figures that load in a selector. We could not read those figures when we checked, so this page prints none of them. Open the page and read them yourself.
The marketplace fee, read from their agreement
Vagaro’s Participation Agreement (updated 29 July 2026) sets the fees for bookings its Fill My Books program facilitates. For a new client it is 20% of the booking amount on that client’s first appointment. For an existing client it is 5% of the booking amount for each appointment.
A client your business imports or adds to its own list counts as an existing client, not a new one. Daily Deals has its own 20% new-client fee on the discounted amount the client pays. If you never use those programs the fees do not apply to you, and it is worth asking Vagaro exactly what turns them on for your account.
Gaplessly has no marketplace and takes no commission on any client. The trade is that we send you no new clients either.
The free card reader, and what it asks of you
The WisePad 3 reader is listed as free, but only with a Vagaro merchant account. The terms on its page say you must process with Vagaro Merchant Services for at least 12 months after activation, with a $150 fee if you stop earlier. The Participation Agreement also lists a $10 monthly rental for small merchants on a no-cost reader, waived in any month with at least $1,000 of card transactions. The card processing rates themselves are shown during enrolment rather than on a public page.
If you already process elsewhere, that is a reason to price the free reader as a 12-month commitment.
Leaving Vagaro without losing your clients
Vagaro’s help centre refused our automated read, so we cannot tell you the export steps and will not guess. Ask support to send your client list, appointment history and any forms in writing before you cancel, and ask what is lost when the account ends. The Participation Agreement says the subscription renews until you cancel it and that you can cancel from your account, with no refund of fees already paid.
Once you have a CSV or XLSX file, Gaplessly’s import reads it, lets you correct the column mapping and shows a dry run that writes nothing. There is no Vagaro preset, so you confirm the mapping yourself. A client row with no phone number is refused, and a booking import needs its client to exist first, matched by email.
Where Vagaro is the better fit
If you want in-person card readers, point-of-sale hardware and a marketplace in the same product, Vagaro has all three and Gaplessly does not. Its 30-day trial is also long enough to run a real month before deciding.
When Vagaro is the right choice
You want a long free trial, a per-calendar price that stops growing at seven bookable people, and a built-in marketplace that can send you new clients, and you are comfortable with a US vendor that prices in US dollars and runs your card processing through its own merchant services. Their support line is listed as always on, which a small team on its own can value more than a lower bill.
The contract, in plain terms
- Cancel any time
- Paid plans renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the dashboard, with no exit fee, and your plan keeps working to the end of the period you paid for. Terms of Service.
- Price rises
- We email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to you, and a change never applies to a period you have already paid for. On a yearly plan you can cancel first and we refund the unused months. Billing Schedule.
- No commission
- We take no commission on bookings, deposits or no-show fees. Stripe charges its own card fees to your own Stripe account, and the Payments Terms say we would give 30 days’ notice before that ever changed. Payments Terms.
Common questions
Does Vagaro charge in Australian dollars?
Its Australian pricing page labels the extra-calendar price as $10 (US) and does not mention GST. The monthly figure for each team size loads in a selector that we could not read when we checked on 2 November 2026, so we print none. Open vagaro.com/en-au/pro/pricing and read the tiers and the currency yourself before you decide.
What is Vagaro’s Fill My Books fee?
Under the Participation Agreement updated 29 July 2026, when Fill My Books facilitates a booking Vagaro charges 20% of the booking amount on a new client’s first appointment and 5% of the booking amount on each appointment from an existing client. Clients you import or add yourself count as existing. Daily Deals carries its own 20% new-client fee on the discounted amount paid.
Is Vagaro’s card reader really free?
It is listed as free with a Vagaro merchant account, but their terms require 12 months of processing through Vagaro Merchant Services and charge a $150 fee for stopping earlier. The Participation Agreement also lists a $10 monthly rental in months with under $1,000 of card transactions. Currency is not labelled on the page.
Does Gaplessly take a cut of my bookings?
No. Gaplessly takes no commission on bookings, deposits or no-show fees. Payments go to your own Stripe account and Stripe charges its own fees there. Our Payments terms commit to at least 30 days’ notice before that ever changes. The cost is the plan, and the plan prices are on the pricing page.
Can I cancel Gaplessly any time?
Paid plans renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the dashboard, with no exit fee, and your plan keeps working to the end of the period you paid for.
How much notice do I get of a price rise?
We email you at least 30 days before a price change applies to you, and a change never applies to a period you have already paid for. On a yearly plan you can cancel first and we refund the unused months.
Does Gaplessly take a commission?
We take no commission on bookings, deposits or no-show fees. Stripe charges its own card fees to your own Stripe account, and the Payments Terms say we would give 30 days’ notice before that ever changed.
