Guests booking through ChatGPT and Claude
A guest can ask an AI assistant for your open times and be handed a link that opens your booking page at the time they picked. The guest finishes the booking themselves.
Quick answer
Nothing to switch on. When your plan includes Bookable from ChatGPT and Claude (Growth and Pro for appointments, Venue Growth and Venue Pro for restaurants and bars) and your business is a live Gaplessly customer, assistants that use our connector can find you by name or suburb, see your open times and hand the guest a link to finish the booking. Every other business can still be reached by its booking link.
1. What an assistant can do for your guests
Gaplessly runs one public connector for AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT. A guest who has connected an assistant to it can ask something like "a table for four on Friday around 7pm" or "a haircut this Saturday afternoon" and the assistant will:
- Find your business by name, suburb or postcode, or from your booking link.
- Read your public profile and service list, the same things your booking page shows anyone.
- Search your free times for a service or a party size, up to 14 days at a time, narrowed to a time of day if the guest asked for one ("afternoons", "around 6pm").
- Start the booking: it hands the guest a link that opens your booking page at the time they chose.
It reads exactly what a visitor to your booking page can already see. It cannot read anyone's bookings, your client list or your takings, and there is no tool that cancels or changes a booking.
2. The guest always finishes the booking
The assistant never books for the guest. It gives them a link, they open it, and your normal booking page takes over: they enter their own name, email and phone there, answer your booking questions, and pay a deposit or leave a card if you ask for one. Their details never pass through the assistant, because the connector has no way to accept them.
- For a restaurant or bar, your booking page holds the table from the moment the guest opens the link, for about ten minutes, while they finish.
- The booking then arrives like any other online booking, with the same confirmation email and the same reminders.
- Your cancellation policy, deposit rules and booking limits apply exactly as they do on your page.
3. Which businesses are listed, and why
Live times and the start-a-booking link come with the Bookable from ChatGPT and Claude feature: Growth and Pro for appointments, Venue Growth and Venue Pro for restaurants and bars. An assistant's name-or-suburb search lists a business only when all of these are true:
- Its account is active.
- It is a real Gaplessly customer, meaning a paid subscription or a sign-up trial. Demo and test accounts are never listed.
- Its plan includes Bookable from ChatGPT and Claude.
A business that does not meet these is not offered in search results, but it is not shut out. Any assistant given its booking link can look it up directly. Below the plan that includes the feature, the assistant gets your booking page link instead of live times, so the guest books on your page as usual.
4. How your business appears
There is no switch to turn on. Being listed follows from your plan and your account status, so it starts when you are on an eligible plan and stops if you drop below one or your account is no longer active.
- What assistants see comes from your public booking page: business name, address and phone if you have entered them, services. Anything you have not entered is reported as not provided; the assistant is told not to guess it.
- Keep your services, team availability and hours up to date, because the times an assistant offers are the same free times your booking page offers.
- Share your booking link as usual. A guest who gives an assistant your link is found on any plan.
If online booking for your business is paused, assistants are told the page is not taking bookings and to ask the guest to call you, so they offer no times.
5. Large parties
If you set a limit on online party size and a guest asks for more, the assistant does not get times. It gets your group enquiry link, plus any email, WhatsApp or Instagram contact you have published for group enquiries, so the guest can ask you directly.
6. Questions
- Do I pay extra for bookings that come through an assistant?
- Not for the connector itself. It is part of the plans that include Bookable from ChatGPT and Claude. A booking made through it is an ordinary online booking and counts the way any online booking does on your plan.
- Can an assistant book without the guest?
- No. It only ever returns a link. The guest opens it and completes the booking on your page.
- Why can't an assistant find my business by name?
- Search lists only active, real businesses on a plan that includes Bookable from ChatGPT and Claude. If yours is not, the assistant can still look you up from your booking link.
- What does the connector keep about my guests?
- Nothing about the guest's identity reaches it. See AI assistant connector under Legal for what it receives and how long it is kept.
