Planning your floor by date
A floor can have several named layouts, such as Wedding or Long table, as well as its Default. Each layout sets where tables sit, which are out of the room and which push together, and online booking follows the layout set for that date.
Quick answer
Open Floor, switch to Editor and choose Layouts. Create a layout and arrange it, then set it for a date (Use on this date) or a weekday (Use every week). On the day, the floor's menu has Tidy tables and Print sheet.
1. What a layout changes
Walls, rooms and the backdrop are shared by every layout on a floor. What a layout sets is where each table sits, which tables are out of the room, and which tables push together for larger parties. Pushing tables together comes from Venue Growth up.
- Tables a layout takes out are not offered online on the days it is used, and only that layout's pushes are offered as combined tables.
- Your team can't book onto, or move a booking onto, a table that is out.
- To take a table out, pick the layout in the Editor's layout picker, select the table and choose Take out of this layout. Put back, in the Layouts window, returns it. The Default can't take tables out; switch a table off in Manage instead.
2. Create and schedule a layout
- In Floor, switch to Editor and choose Layouts. Under New layout, give it a name, choose what to Start from, and Create layout. A floor can have up to 10 layouts besides its Default.
- For one date: under Dates, pick today or a later date and a layout, then choose Use on this date.
- For every week: under Every week, pick a day and choose Use every week.
- Every other day uses the Default.
When more than one applies, a date wins over a weekday, and a weekday wins over the Default. Setting a date to the Default cancels the weekday layout for just that day. Each floor follows its own schedule. Compare shows two layouts side by side: seats, tables out, tables moved and pushes.
Once a floor has a named layout, the live floor also shows a layout picker, which sets the layout for the date on screen after asking you first.
3. Tidy the day's tables
From the floor's menu, Tidy tables suggests moving small parties to the smallest free table that fits, which frees bigger tables for bigger groups. Only bookings still to come on a single table are moved. Seated guests, bookings already under way, combined tables and kept tables stay put, and guests are not told about the move.
- Keep bookings in their area is on by default and keeps every move inside the booking's own room or area. Turn it off to allow moves into another room.
- Each suggested move has its own tick, and nothing moves until you choose Move.
- Keep this table, on a booking, means a tidy never moves it. When a guest picks their own table online, it is kept for them automatically.
4. Print a service sheet
Print sheet, in the floor's menu, opens a sheet for the pre-service briefing: the service and its times, team notes, total covers, covers by server section, covers arriving at each time, a run of the service (time, table, guest, party, section and notes) and the floor map with that service's bookings, drawn from the layout set for the date.
5. Common questions
- Where is Take out of this layout?
- It appears once a named layout is picked in the Editor. The Default can't take tables out.
- Why is a table still bookable online on the day of an event?
- Check that the date shows your layout under Dates. A date set to the Default overrides a weekday layout.
- Why did Tidy tables skip a booking?
- Combined tables, seated or started bookings, and kept tables are never moved.
